The working principle of the self-priming pump is:
when the pump is full of water, the impeller rotates to generate centrifugal force, and the liquid flows to the volute along the channel. A vacuum is formed at the inlet of the pump to open the inlet check valve and suck the air in the inlet pipe into the pump. In the impeller channel, the air is mixed with the water in the radial return hole (or return pipe) and flows along the volute along the channel and into the separation chamber. In the separation chamber, the air is separated from the liquid and the liquid returns to the impeller. This cycle is repeated, Until the air in the suction pipe is exhausted, so that the liquid enters the pump to complete the self-priming process.
